Monaghan
Located on the border, Monaghan is one of the forgotten jewels of Ulster . We’re situated 1:30 hour from Dublin and 1:15 from > Belfast at the junction of the N2 and N54. Easily accessible, Monaghan Town offers visitors a choice of activities and fantastic value for money.
Nightlife
We’d like to claim that the nightlife begins and ends in the Squealing Pig, but just because we’re the best doesn’t mean that there is no one else. Monaghan is a buzzing town with a wide range of pubs, restaurants and clubs and late bars. Every taste and every pocket is catered for in the town and the craic on weekends is immense.Restaurants offer food from traditional Irish, to Chinese, Thai and Indian. Naturally we don’t tlhink you’ll want to leave the Pig if you come in. but if you do you’ll find a town with lots to offer. Obviously in terms of pubs, clubs and restaurants, well we’ve got it all under one roof so you won’t want to go anywhere else.
Shopping
Monaghan has plenty on offer in terms of shops. A range of international brands and local produce. Two shopping centres in the town centre and easy access to parking make shopping in the town a piece of cake. The town offers exceptional value for money and is a favourite with visitors from throughout the region.
Monaghan is also conveniently located for a quick spin across the border. While the value varies depending on the product, there is excellent value to be had in some parts of the North and on certain goods. Monaghan Town is located less than 15 minutes drive from the border and only 25 minutes from our sister city in Armagh , home of St. Patrick.
Paintball
For those who like a bit more activity, Monaghan offers great value for money on paintball and adventure sports such as karting and quad bike racing. With two paintball facilities located in the forests around Monaghan, its easy to lose yourself in an afternoons harmless combat. Rallying
The original and the best. Rally School is where the concept of open access rallying started in Ireland . Expert tuition is available to you at the track in Monaghan and the opportunity to drive rally cars – right up to the WRC Subaru Imprezza.
Golf
A bit more sedate, but still popular, County Monaghan offers a number of excellent courses. From the Championship Nuremore in Carrrickmacross, to the demanding Rossmore Golf Course in Monaghan Town . Clones and Mannon Castle also offer a challenge and the famous Slieve Russell is only half an hour away from us and is popular with locals and visitors alike.
